The Wootton

The brief

The client envisioned a kitchen that was full of character, texture, and charm—a space that felt layered, lived-in, and utterly unique. Their ambition was to combine eclectic styles, reclaimed elements, and rich materials to create a warm and timeless kitchen living space that reflected their personality.

The design needed to be both practical and creative, with clever solutions for awkward layouts and a strong visual centrepiece.

The design

This bespoke kitchen is a celebration of eclectic style, combining Plain Norfolk cabinetry with reclaimed furniture, bold natural marble, and thoughtful design details that elevate the everyday into something extraordinary.

The cabinetry is painted in a beautifully blended palette of Farrow & Ball ‘Pavilion Grey’, ‘Lamp Room Grey’ and ‘Hague Blue’, brought to life by white quartz worktops and natural finishes that lend contrast and warmth.

At the heart of the kitchen sits a statement marble island, featuring a book-matched waterfall edge that draws the eye and grounds the entire space. In a clever twist, black granite triangular inserts - in a honed finish - were used to avoid unsightly joins in the worktop that would otherwise have been required due to its length. The result is both practical and beautifully designed.

The back wall of tall cabinetry is a joyful mix of freestanding and fitted furniture, featuring:

  • A refurbished wardrobe with chicken wire detailing,
  • A bespoke wine rack dovecote framing the fridge,
  • And a crocks store cupboard for added function and flair.

The play on varying heights, textures, and finishes makes the space feel dynamic and inviting. Each element tells a story, from the reclaimed pieces to the tall glass display cupboard and double window seats, which add balance, light, and softness to the room.

This kitchen is a masterclass in blending old with new - a layered, timeless design that surprises and delights from every angle.
